Study Tips for Weather & Nature

1

Sort weather phrases by verb: hace (hace calor, hace sol, hace viento), está (está nublado, está lloviendo) and hay (hay niebla, hay tormenta). The verb is the part learners get wrong, not the noun.

2

Keep tengo frío (I feel cold) and hace frío (it's cold out) on separate cards. English uses 'to be' for both, so the mix-up is very common.

3

Describe the day's weather in Spanish each morning before you check your phone, using one hace phrase, one está phrase and the temperature.

4

Learn the seasons with their articles: la primavera is feminine, while el verano, el otoño and el invierno are masculine.
