Study Tips for Home & Household

1

Label the furniture in your own home with sticky notes in Spanish, article included (la silla, el armario). Seeing them every day turns recognition into instant recall.

2

Pick one regional set and stick to it. If you are learning Mexican Spanish, study la recámara, el departamento and el refrigerador first, and treat the Spain words as recognition only.

3

Learn chores as verb phrases, not single nouns: hacer la cama, poner la mesa, lavar los platos. They are fixed combinations, and swapping the verb sounds wrong to native speakers.

4

Flag words with more than one household meaning: el techo is ceiling and roof, la cocina is kitchen and stove, and el piso can mean flat, floor or storey depending on the country.
